1920s Attire

1920s Fashion

1920s style attire is admired at the Sunday April 5 Roaring 20s Dance Party, but is absolutely not required.

There are many options to choose from if you wish to come 1920s-ish or with some 1920s elements. You might even find some 20s-ish clothes in mainstream stores due to the buzz about the 20s.

3. The Great Gatsby

  • Come as Gatsby or one of the women from the Gatsby movies and 1925 novel by F Scott Fitzgerald. Ask duckduckgo or google for Great Gatsby images.

4. Wooster & Jeeves

  • Come as Wooster or Jeeves or something like that if you like. Wodehouse’s Wooster and Jeeves stories are set in the 1920s, some are written in the 20s, some later. Wooster is an English 1%er who has never done a splink of paid work in his life. But of course he still needs the full-time services of a gentleman’s gentleman (Jeeves) to do everything from most of the driving to serving just the right morning-after-hangover-cure-drink. Wooster’s fashion sense is sometimes a bit off and over the top, at least in the refined opinion of Jeeves. Jeeves is something of a genius, and very much the brains of the duo.
  • Episodes of the Wooster and Jeeves TV series with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry are on Youtube (free of charge).
