WORKSHOP

Collegiate Shag All Levels
All Levels!

Vaccination proof NOT required. Masks optional.

PREREQUISITE

NO PARTNER REQUIRED.

Prior dance experience is recommended, but not required. There is no need to bring your own dance partner.

This Collegiate Shag workshop will cover the most fundamental and iconic moves that define this energetic, expressive, and versatile dance. Whether you’re a complete beginner, a seasoned “shagster” looking to refine your form and connection, or an experienced dancer eager to explore a new style, this class is for you!
We’ll break down essential shag shapes, techniques, and must-know moves to enhance your connection and dynamic expression with social dance partners. While Collegiate Shag may seem fast-paced with its intricate footwork, this workshop will provide tips to help you explore musicality through simple adjustments in position, footwork variations (breaks), and rotation.

Collegiate Shag is a fun swing dance from the Swing Era done around the world today.

A partner is NOT required. It is common for people to attend by themselves. Partner rotation is allowed and encouraged in all lessons. You may register on your own or with a partner. Nevertheless, if you still seek a partner, please post that at the Facebook event.
